16th DWI For Conroe Man Gets Him 99 Years In Prison
99 years--or at least, 10 to 15 years before he is eligible for parole--for man in Conroe, Texas on his 16th DWI. In August, 52 year old James Steven Corley was pulled over for a broken taillight and weaving within his lane. His
BAC level was .10. His testimony indicated that every time he drinks, he drinks to get drunk and "he doesn't think about anyone who is on the street with him."
At the time of his arrest, he was apparently fleeing from a burglary and assault of his girlfriend. Lets be honest, at
16 DWIs there is nothing that the criminal justice system can do for this man. Texas is considering allowing deferred adjudication for a first time
DWI offense. Though nothing would help this man, allowing for deferred adjudication will allow for a person to be treated (instead of taking jail time) for any intoxication related problems and allow for the State to focus on repeat offenders.
