Man Sentenced To 32 Years For Fifth DWI
An Arlington man was convicted for the fifth time for DWI. On August 2, 2009, Jose Isabel Lopez ran a stop sign and was pulled over by the police. The officer smelled alcohol on Lopez, observed beer in his car, and then had Lopez perform the
standard field sobriety tests. He was then arrested. During a search of his car (presumably an inventory search) cocaine was found.
DWI prosecution in the State of Texas is serious business. However, an offender who continually is arrested for DWI will face severe consequences, as this man did. The range of punishment, if one is considered to be a
habitual DWI offender, will increase dramatically. Likewise, the tenacity with which prosecutors pursue your conviction will also increase dramatically.
