Police Prepare For Spring Break DWI "Blitz"
As spring break approaches, you can feel the excitement about to erupt from college campuses all across Texas. Beware, though. Last December, the Public Safety Commission approved an enhanced DWI enforcement program by the Texas Highway Patrol.
This plan states that during times of increased travel, along with increased intoxicated drivers on the road, Texas Highway Patrol troopers will be conducting patrols specifically looking for DWI "candidates." They also will be patrolling historically "high-risk" locations where alcohol-related crashes have occurred more frequently.
Spring Break is officially one of those "targeted enforcement periods." So be prepared. It is best not to drink and drive. Please call a taxi, a friend, or a loved one. It is simply not worth the risk.
