BWI/DWI Task Force Created
The LCRA, Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, the Burne and Llano county sheriff's office, and DPS have created a task force to monitor drunk driving. According to the law enforcement officials, "driving a boat when you're drunk is just as serious as driving a car when you're drunk."
Interestingly, the are creating a no-refusal type of policy. That is, if the person refuses to take a breath test LCRA and Texas Parks and Wildlife will request blood draw warrants to determine the persons BAC level. This will mainly occur on Lake Buchanan, Inks Lake, Lake LBJ, Marble Falls, and Lake Travis.
Expect this summer for law enforcement officials to tackle both
BWI and
DWI. Just because you do not get busted out on the lake, you will still have to drive home. That gives the police officers two chances to bust you.
