What Are The Chances That No-Refusal Weekends Will Become A Regular Option?

No Refusal Weekends, as they have come to be known, have become a reliable addition to holidays in Texas. No Refusal Weekends are common occurrences on holidays such as the Fourth of July, Labor Day, and Christmas.
During a No Refusal Weekend the police can request a blood or breath test from a person suspected of driving while intoxicated. If that person refuses, then the police have the option of going to a magistrate to ask for a search warrant to draw the person's blood. This will allow the police to determine the person's blood alcohol concentration despite the person's refusal.
There was a statewide No Refusal initiative that spanned four days over the Fourth of July. During the long weekend it led to over seventy DWI arrests, with over 200 law enforcement agencies across the state participated in the weekend. With positive results from these weekends it appears that these weekends might start to become the norm
We will continue to monitor this over the next several holidays. If you have been charged with DWI,
