It is bad enough when someone tries to drive intoxicated and endangers himself and other drivers. It is quite another when he has his two children in the backseat.
That is exactly what happened to one family in the state of Minnesota who was charged with third-degree DWI last week. The man was picking his two children up from daycare, ages 5 and 1, when he had trouble driving. He pulled over and the older child got out of the car and went to a neighbor's house for help. When the neighbor learned that the father was intoxicated, the police were called for assistance.
The 40-year-old refused to take an alcohol test when police arrived. However, he finally relented and police determined that his blood alcohol level was 0.289, well above the state legal limit of 0.08. He was arrested for DWI and a family friend came to take the children away from the father.
