| Police Chief asks for Harsher DWI Legislation |
| Posted By Plano DWI Lawyer |
 |
In San Antonio on Feb. 2, Police Chief William McManus asked City Council to support new DWI legislation aimed at addressing the drunk driving problems the city has, which were described as a serious and devastating problem.
The proposed state house bills will make changes such as cracking down on drunken drivers whose blood alcohol levels are exceedingly high, making the penalty a Class A misdemeanor instead of a Class B misdemeanor. They would also require an ignition interlock device in the vehicles of first time DWI offenders as well as statewide highway checkpoints to catch more drunk drivers on the roads.
When you've been arrested for DWI you never know just how serious the penalties you may be facing for a conviction really are. A change in the laws can mean that a first time mistake can have drastic effects on your life. If you've been arrested or charged for intoxicated driving, a Plano DWI attorney can assist you in

| DWI Task Force Cracks Down on Drunk Driving |
| Posted By Plano DWI Lawyer |
 |
In mid-January in El Paso, a new DWI Task Force for the city began issuing large amounts of citations and making arrests for DWI's, traffic violations and even jaywalking. A total of more than 500 tickets have been issued by the new task force, whose size was increased by ten officers following a sharp spike in alcohol related accident fatalities in January.
El Paso Police Chief Greg Allen has added the 10 additional officers to the DWI Task Force, which operates every day of the week, in order to bolster force size on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Due to the frequency of alcohol related accidents at the end of the week, the hope is that more officers on the streets actively hunting intoxicated drivers will help reduce the number of deaths, which El Paso Police fear could reach 120 deaths by the end of the year at the current rate.
In the first week alone, 28 arrests were made for driving while intoxicated while an additional 18 minors were cited for consumption of alcohol as well as nearly 400 tickets, which were issued for other violations. Citations were also given for jaywalking in order to help keep pedestrians safe during the increase of DWI related accidents.

| Two Men Arrested for DWI under Unusual Circumstances. |
| Posted By Plano DWI Lawyer |
 |
In Austin, Texas in mid-January, two men were arrested for DWI. While DWI charges are fairly common, the two men were arrested under unusual circumstances. In Austin it is legal to ride a horse on a public street. It is not however, legal to ride the horse while intoxicated.
Joes Rios and Olivio were arrested for DWI on a horse and a mule after they left their horse trailer near I-35 and rode the horse and mule down 6th street in Austin. During their ride they invited people to take pictures with them and their horse.
Police who happened to be nearby were not amused however, and asked the two men to perform field sobriety tests. Rios was unable to complete the sobriety test, presumably because he was too intoxicated.

| Former Cowboys Receiver Arrested for DWI |
| Posted By Plano DWI Lawyer |
 |
On Jan. 20th, Terry Glenn, a former receiver for the Cowboys, was arrested after he was stopped for
driving while intoxicated. He also faces charges for possession of marijuana.
Glenn has been charged for crimes at least three other times since he was drafted and later released from the Cowboys, including a public intoxication citation in 2005, a public intoxication and marijuana possession arrest in 2009, and grand theft auto charges in 2010 after he failed to return a rental car. He was arrested again in Sept. last year for an additional marijuana charge.
When you have multiple convictions and arrests on your record, a DWI charge can be a very serious matter. A judge may be inclined to believe that any additional arrests are all true, unless a skilled attorney can assist you in disproving or
challenging evidence or other factors against you.
If you or a loved one has been arrested or charged for DWI in Texas, a Plano DWI lawyer can assist you in building a defense for your case. At the Zendeh Del Law Firm we provide aggressive legal counsel for clients facing DWI charges.

| Driver Charged with Intoxication Assault |
| Posted By Plano DWI Lawyer |
 |
In the early morning hours on January 23, two North Texas Department of Public Safety State Troopers were injured when their vehicle was rear-ended by a suspected drunk driver.
Around 2 am Sunday morning, the two troopers, Sergeant David Cramer and Trooper Germaine Gaspard, had stopped another driver on suspicion of drunk driving, when another driver veered off the highway and collided with the troopers' vehicle. The collision caused severe injuries to Sgt. Cramer, and minor injuries to Gaspard.
The driver who collided with the troopers' vehicle was arrested and charged for intoxication assault, while the driver initially pulled over was charged for driving while intoxicated (
DWI). The driver who caused the accident was treated for injuries before being booked in the Mesquite jail. The other driver was also booked at the mesquite jail for his DWI charge.
If you have been arrested or charged for DWI in Texas you will need immediate legal assistance to help with your case. Your arrest or the
DWI evidence against you may have been adversely affected by the environment or events that occurred when the police initially stopped you. If your rights were violated or if the officer did not have cause to pull you over, a skilled attorney may be able to have your charges dropped or reduced.
At the Zendeh Del Law Firm we offer legal counsel for drivers accused or arrested for DWI in Plano. If you or a loved one has been charged with drunk driving, contact a Plano DWI Attorney at our firm today for a free case evaluation. |

| "No Refusal" for DWI Suspects Over July 4 Weekend |
| Posted By Zendeh Del Law |
 |
North Texas police are banding together and initiating a "no refusal" policy over the holiday weekend. "No refusal" means that if you are pulled over for a suspected DWI and you refuse a breathalyzer test, a search warrant will be immediately issued and the officer will take a blood sample to determine your blood alcohol content (BAC). Anyone arrested for DWI should contact a
Plano DWI defense attorney as soon as possible.
In Texas, the legal limit for alcohol while operating a motor vehicle is .08%. For minors, there is a zero tolerance policy, which means that any detectable amount of alcohol will result in a DWI or DUI charge.
A DWI conviction can result in up to 180 days in jail, up to $2,000 in fines, mandatory alcohol education classes or mandatory victim panels. Furthermore, your license can be suspended for up to a year and you can be placed on probation. If this is a second or third offense, the penalties are much stricter.
Last year, almost 12,000 people were killed in auto accidents in which at least one driver was above the .08% limit. The July 4th holiday weekend is notorious for alcohol related accidents.
In Plano, the no refusal initiative will be in effect Friday through Tuesday, 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.
